EARTH DAY TREE PLANTING

With Pico-Union Project

This Earth Day, join the Pico-Union Project in their mission to transform Los Angeles's most densely populated and economically challenged neighborhood into a green oasis. Pico-Union, often overlooked for its lack of green space and tree canopy, is hosting a tree and succulent planting event in partnership with Blue Sky LA. With community support, 40 native species of trees and succulents will be planted across the neighborhood, combating poor air quality and extreme heat.

Pico-Union Project, a nonprofit dedicated to creating a supportive environment for diverse communities, has become a vital part of residents' lives, providing everything from free hot meals to music lessons. Additionally, through initiatives like distributing 30,000 pounds of fresh produce weekly and composting excess food waste, Pico-Union Project is leading the charge in environmental sustainability.

Through their tireless efforts, Pico-Union Project is not only enriching the lives of community members but also making significant strides in reducing food waste and combating climate change. By distributing unsellable produce, composting food scraps, and implementing innovative solutions like solar reflective paint on their parking lot, they are setting a powerful example of how grassroots initiatives can make a tangible difference in creating a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
